Melinda Wiggins, MSOM, LAc, CMT
Melinda Wiggins is a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist who graduated with a Masters of Traditional Chinese Medicine from the Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine Institute in Berkeley. Melinda combines acupuncture, gentle manual therapies (bodywork), and herbal medicine in her practice. She has always been fascinated by the treatment of painful conditions such as back pain, neck and shoulder pain, headaches, and arthritis. Additional areas of focus include infertility, digestive issues, depression, anxiety, women’s issues, and sleep disorders. She benefited from interning with Josh Margolis, L.Ac., at Hill Park Medical Center in Petaluma, and a 3-month externship in Guatemala at Hospitalito de Santiago, Clinica Naturista, and Flower House. This externship gave her extended practice in treating various types of chronic pain, insomnia, depression, and included additional studies in Western herbalism, I Ching, diet, and nutrition. Upon graduating, Melinda has been working on integrating traditional energetic acupuncture approaches with modern anatomical acupuncture and manual therapies to treat complex pain and internal issues.
Melinda began her background of healing studying Western herbal medicine, midwifery, and gardening in the North Carolina mountains. She has now been a certified massage therapist for over 8 years, utilizing studies in chronic pain management, trigger point therapy, deep tissue, and facilitated stretching techniques. Melinda helps people discover how through acupuncture, simple exercises, lifestyle and diet, and utilizing natural supplements and individualized herbal formulas, health may be derived. She has developed a practice of compassionate care, and an understanding that all of these modalities may be used together to create the best treatment plan for each individual’s unique health condition. Melinda strives to work with her patients, at their own pace, to find that essential balance within themselves.
